As a Senior BI Platform & Data Automation Engineer, you'll take ownership of the technical structure of our deployment, setup, and automation logic while strategically developing our internal platform for customer onboarding and lifecycle management. You'll work in a remote-first environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Germany or from our offices in Hamburg or Augsburg.

This role offers the opportunity to architect scalable Power BI solutions, automate complex deployment processes, and work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into stable technical architectures within the Microsoft Power BI and Fabric ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain architecture for Power BI workspace and deployment structures ensuring scalable, stable setups
Design and automate deployment and release processes using Power Automate and Power BI REST API
Model structured data models (Customer, Tenant, Version) and develop clean relational structures with versioning and validity logic
Implement logging, status tracking, and monitoring mechanisms on SQL basis and analyze errors systematically using status codes and logs
Orchestrate secure multi-workspace architectures while considering data leakage risks
Analyze dependencies between reports, datasets, and dataflows to ensure repeatable, idempotent deployments
Design clear process structures (Sales → Support → Automation) and develop stable ownership and governance logic
Collaborate closely with Product, Customer Success, and Implementation teams to translate requirements into stable technical architectures
Actively contribute to the development of platform strategy in Microsoft Power BI and Fabric environment

Requirements

Several years of experience in BI, data engineering, or automation environments
Strong understanding of relational data models and proficient SQL skills (JOINs, DML, basic stored procedures)
Advanced knowledge of Power BI (Datasets, Dataflows Gen1/Gen2, Deployment Pipelines, Rebinding, Service vs. Desktop, Gateway & Credentials)
Multi-year experience with Power Automate (Cloud Flows, HTTP Actions, error handling, concurrency, asynchronous processes)
Understanding of REST APIs, OAuth fundamentals, and ability to read and analyze JSON structures
Ability to recognize systemic relationships and understand how structural changes can affect multiple processes
Structured, precise work approach with high quality and security awareness
Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and communicate confidently with various stakeholders
Excellent German language skills in speaking and writing
