Role Overview

We are seeking a technically curious working student to shape how our organization leverages AI for workflow automation. As we scale our digital infrastructure, there's enormous potential to use Large Language Models and AI-powered tools to automate workflows across departments — from operations and sales to lab coordination and internal reporting.

Your mission is to identify manual, repetitive, or inefficient business processes and build smart, LLM-driven solutions that actually ship. You won't be writing theoretical concepts — you'll be deploying real automations that change how our teams work every day. You'll work with full autonomy on your projects while being supported by our tech team for infrastructure and deployment needs.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI and business operations, building portfolio-worthy projects that have measurable impact on how teams operate.

Responsibilities

Assess automation needs alongside operations leads and business stakeholders, determining where AI-based approaches add genuine value
Evaluate and select appropriate tools for each use case, balancing capability, cost, and long-term maintainability
Design and build AI workflows using commercial AI services and open-source solutions
Prototype agentic workflows that combine AI capabilities with existing business systems
Build and maintain automation pipelines using orchestration tools to connect CRM, lab data, and internal databases
Develop and optimize Python scripts for data validation, transformation, and API integrations
Create dashboards and lightweight internal tools that turn raw data into actionable insights
Build simple web interfaces to make automations accessible to the wider team
Continuously test, refine, and document automations for maintainability and transparency

Requirements

Currently enrolled in German higher education program with plans to remain a student for at least 1 year
At least one completed internship or working student position in a technical or digital role
Strong, demonstrable Python proficiency as primary working language
Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and AI-assisted coding tools
Understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and integration into real processes
Solid understanding of databases and SQL for data storage and querying
Process-first thinking approach - understanding business processes before choosing technical solutions
Fluent English language skills

Nice to Have

Professional fluency in German
Experience with workflow orchestration platforms (n8n, Make, Apache Airflow)
Web development experience (JavaScript, simple frontend frameworks)
Understanding of deployment and infrastructure basics (Docker, APIs, cloud vs. on-premise)
Broad data literacy across data generation, processing, storage, and governance
Exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or version control workflows
