Role Overview

Join Kraken's Payward Services (PWS) as Principal, Business Operations – AI & Automation, where you'll lead the development of an AI-native operations function that enables a lean team to operate at massive scale. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and execution, focusing on building intelligent automation systems that transform how business operations work.

You'll co-own the automation stack for Kraken's rapidly scaling B2B arm, which provides digital asset trading, payments, custody, staking, and funding services to enterprise clients. Working directly with leadership, you'll drive the roadmap from opportunity identification through design, build, and scale of AI-powered workflows and agentic systems.

Responsibilities

Own the AI automation roadmap for Payward Services from strategy through execution
Build and deploy agentic workflows and AI-powered tools using Claude-based assistants and automation platforms
Transform ambiguous, under-owned processes by bringing structure, automation, and operational speed
Partner across Sales, Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Compliance to translate business problems into automation solutions
Optimize existing automations for cost efficiency, reliability, and scale
Drive 0→1 initiatives from problem discovery to prototype to production deployment
Establish best practices for AI tooling, prompt engineering, and workflow design across the organization
Advise leadership on AI operational leverage opportunities and shape long-term vision for AI-native operations

Requirements

5+ years in Business Operations, Consulting, Product Strategy, or similar roles in high-growth tech, fintech, or crypto
AI-native mindset with daily use of AI tools and instinctive automation-first thinking
Hands-on building experience with Claude, APIs, n8n, scripting, and automation platforms
Proven rapid learning ability across domains and tools with comfort in steep learning curves
Data-driven approach with ability to pull, clean, and analyze data independently
Strong structured problem-solving skills to identify real bottlenecks in workflows and systems
High ownership mentality with bias toward action and experimentation
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment
Experience building or optimizing AI-powered reporting, internal tools, or operational workflows

Nice to Have

Background at top-tier consulting firm (MBB or equivalent)
Familiarity with agentic workflows, MCP integrations, or multi-system automation architectures
Background in fintech, crypto, payments, or complex operational environments
Experience with cost optimization in AI workflows (API usage, token efficiency, scaling automation)
Experience with Claude Projects, Anthropic API, or similar LLM-based development
