Role Overview

OnForm Finance is seeking their first dedicated Technology Lead to revolutionize how the company leverages technology across all business operations. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape the technological foundation of a growing finance services firm that works with ambitious founder-led companies up to £20M in revenue.

As Technology Lead, you'll be responsible for identifying, building, and implementing technology solutions that genuinely improve how the team operates. This includes developing AI-powered tools, automation systems, and internal platforms that remove friction and enhance the quality of financial services delivery. You'll work directly with leadership to ensure new technologies are not just built, but actually adopted and integrated into daily workflows.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can design multi-year technology roadmaps while also shipping working prototypes quickly. You'll establish the company's first formal security procedures and data governance framework, making this an ideal position for someone excited about building technology infrastructure from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Design and build internal tools including AI-powered reporting, automated reconciliations, and client-facing dashboards
Prototype solutions using modern AI and low-code tools, then develop the best concepts into production systems
Establish and maintain a central data warehouse integrating Xero, Shopify, Stripe and other client data sources
Implement security procedures and access controls for client financial data handling
Develop data governance frameworks including classification, retention, segmentation and audit trails
Partner with leadership to map processes and identify high-leverage technology insertion points
Train team members and create playbooks to improve technology adoption across the organization
Own the technology roadmap including build-versus-buy decisions and vendor relationship management
Drive adoption of new tools through change management and stakeholder engagement

Requirements

Proven experience shipping software with AI tools as core workflow components (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable)
Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code platforms (Airtable, Zapier, n8n, Make) and knowing when to use real code
Strong API and integration experience, preferably including Xero, Shopify or payment processors
Solid data engineering foundation including data warehouse experience and SQL proficiency with business data
Experience implementing security procedures, access controls and data governance for sensitive data
Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate with non-technical stakeholders
Strong change management skills with proven ability to drive tool adoption beyond just delivery
Builder's mindset with focus on shipping and iterating rather than extended planning phases

Nice to Have

Previous experience building tools for accounting, finance or ecommerce operations
Hands-on work with Claude/Anthropic APIs, agentic workflows, or AI orchestration frameworks
Experience leading full tech stack audits or organizational change programmes
Track record designing internal tools that non-technical teammates actively use and enjoy
Portfolio of quickly shipped projects including side projects, prototypes, or micro-SaaS solutions
