Role Overview

As a Solution Architect for AI & Automation at Premera Blue Cross, you will design, implement, and support technical solutions for Data Management, AI Engineering, and Data Science teams. You'll bridge the gap between technology and business requirements by working with engineering teams and customers to understand problems, customize products, and ensure successful integration across software, cloud, and network infrastructure.

This role focuses on transforming healthcare through innovative automation solutions, partnering with business stakeholders to design end-to-end automated workflows, and integrating AI capabilities to augment manual processes. You'll work with modern cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and collaborate across teams to deliver high-impact automation opportunities that improve business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Meet with clients to understand technical challenges, goals, and requirements
Develop customized technical solutions involving software, data, AI, and cloud services
Act as communication bridge between clients and internal engineering teams
Create technical documentation, design documents, and proof of concepts
Partner with business stakeholders to design automated workflows and process specifications
Collaborate with data teams to define and curate data requirements in Snowflake
Identify and specify AI capabilities integration opportunities in workflows
Configure and maintain integrations between source systems and core platforms
Monitor and troubleshoot workflow runs, data issues, and AI-agent performance
Define metrics and dashboards to track workflow performance and business outcomes

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Healthcare, Computer Science, or related field OR 7 years IT/engineering experience
10 years experience in data and systems design, architecture, and implementation
5 years experience in area of specialty
Strong SQL skills and experience with modern cloud data warehouses
Understanding of relational data modeling and data catalog concepts
Experience integrating services over REST APIs and working with JSON payloads
Ability to model business processes and create workflow diagrams
Strong communication skills to translate between business and technical audiences

Nice to Have

Experience with Elementum or similar supply chain/process automation platforms
Experience with Snowflake data warehouse
Experience defining or consuming AI agents or microservices in production
Background in insurance, consulting, operations, finance, or supply-chain domains
Scripting or programming experience (Python, C#, JavaScript)
Familiarity with AI/LLM capabilities and patterns (chatbots, RAG, classification)
Experience with workflow management tools and automation platforms
