Role Overview

Join a boutique advocacy and political consulting firm as they revolutionize their operations through AI automation. This role offers the unique opportunity to design and build cutting-edge AI-powered systems that will transform how the firm manages projects, coordinates teams, and serves clients across press strategy, crisis communications, and large-scale advocacy campaigns.

As the AI Automation & Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of integrating advanced AI tools like Claude and OpenAI with existing platforms such as Asana, Slack, and email systems. You'll create intelligent automation pipelines that streamline communication, generate tasks automatically, and provide leadership with AI-powered insights into project status and team coordination.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the technological foundation of a growing firm, working directly with leadership to embed AI into daily workflows and create scalable systems that drive operational efficiency and support long-term growth.

Responsibilities

Design and build internal AI-powered systems that support project management and operational workflows
Develop integrations between Claude, Asana, Slack, email systems, and automation platforms
Translate business processes into scalable AI-driven operational systems
Build automation pipelines that connect communication channels and project management tools
Create systems where client communications automatically generate tasks and project updates
Collaborate with leadership to design an AI-powered project management framework
Build systems that allow leadership to query project status using AI assistants
Integrate and optimize AI tools such as Claude, OpenAI APIs, Zapier, and Make
Maintain and update internal AI infrastructure
Serve as the internal point of contact for AI system updates and enhancements

Requirements

Experience building AI-powered automation systems or internal operational tools
Experience integrating AI tools with project management or operational platforms
Experience designing and maintaining workflow automation systems
Familiarity with large language models such as Claude or OpenAI
Experience with automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n
Strong understanding of APIs and system integrations
Experience working with project management platforms such as Asana, ClickUp, or similar tools
Strong strategic thinking around systems design, workflows, and operational efficiency
Ability to work during U.S. business hours (9 AM - 5 PM EST)
Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities

Nice to Have

Ability to experiment, iterate, and adapt quickly as technologies evolve
Experience in consulting or agency environments
Knowledge of political communications or advocacy work
